Annie Frances Neal-Brown
was born June 29, 1941 in Madison County, TN, the second of 8 children to
the late LaNola & John Neal Sr.
She graduated Merry High (1959), then later became a proud graduate of
Lane College (1971) where she received a Bachelor of Art degree. Post
graduation she was an educator at Lincoln Elementary, then later
became a healthcare provider as a CNA caregiver until retirement.
Though retired, she spent several years volunteering as a caregiver at
Mission Convalescent Home.
Frances accepted Christ at a young age while attending Salem C.M.E.
church. When she moved to the city she became a member of St. Paul
C.M.E church, then later in life she joined New Greater Bethel A.M.E.
church where she faithfully served as President of Missionaries, a
Vacation Bible School teacher & a choir member. While attending NGB
A.M.E. she met her late husband, Joe Lee Brown whom she loved & cared
for until he transitioned & preceded her in death.
Preceding her in death were 3 brothers: John Neal Jr., George Neal &
Lewis Neal; 2 step-daughters: Donna Wilson & Elease “Cookie” Brown &
a grandson: Caleb Riley.
She leaves to cherish her memories: 3 children, Nola “Nancy” Neal-
Brooks, Edward “Kim” (Jackie) Neal & Ericil (James) Ivy-Cole; 3 step-
daughters: Paulette “Polly” Cross, Doris Anderson, Patrice (Michael)
Anderson, all of Jackson, TN; 3 sisters: Pauline Neal Edwards of
Columbus, OH, Hazel Neal of Memphis, TN, Gladys (Andrew) Cheairs of
Byhalia, MS and 1 brother: Macon Neal of Memphis, TN; 13 grandchildren,
one in which she raised, Fredrequous Neal; 25 great-grandchildren and a
hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins & friends whose lives she touched
