Bobby Joe Pruitt, Sr.

Bobby Joe Pruitt, Sr., was born March 27, 1950 to Willie and Ramonia Frye Pruitt. He departed this life on August 16, 2022. He was a dedicated Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Brother & Friend. 

Bobby professed his hope in Christ and was a dedicated member and Deacon at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church until his transition.  

On February 3, 1970, he united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Dorothy Chism-Pruitt and to this union four children were born, LaJuana Pruitt, Bobby Pruitt, Jr., Deon Pruitt and BraShundra Fuller.  

Bobby was educated in the Jackson Madison County School System and was a 1968 graduate of Merry High School. Upon graduating, he attended West TN Business College and Jackson State Community College. Later he joined the United States Air Force. He was also a member of the St. John Masonic Lodge #98. Bobby was a hard-worker and made sure his family was well taken care of. After years of working, he retired from Pinnacle Foods.  

Bobby, Sr. is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ann Person; brothers, Argie Pruitt and Raymond Pruitt; an aunt, who helped raise him, Eloise Tanner; and a son, Deon Pruitt. 

The memories of his life will be forever honored and cherished by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy (Dot) Chism-Pruitt; his children, LaJuana Pruitt, BraShundra Fuller and Bobby J. (Shawnika) Pruitt, Jr.; grandchildren, Teia Pruitt, Trimon Pruitt, Aveon Pruitt, Amauria Pruitt, Janyah Pruitt, Javion Pruitt, Deontavious Pruitt, Jaelon Pruitt, Teiarron Pruitt Woods, Lai’la Hall, KeAndrian Fuller, DeAndrian Fuller, Kennedy Franklin, Kayleigh Franklin and Hunter Franklin; brothers-in-law, Lorenzo (Addie Jean) Broyld and Clarence Hartfield; sister-in-law, Sandra Burton; special nieces & nephews, JoAnn Turner Hudson, Annette Turner, Karen Person Robertson, Eric Person, Tomeka Holland, Marketus (Elizabeth) Broyld, Rory White, Sabrina Rutherford, Ramario Jackson, Ryan Sanders and Terrance (Chiquilla) Hartfield; special church children, Tarsha Stovall, Eric Morrow, Rodrick Lyons, Lewis Thompson, Rev. Dontavious Dodd, Leon & Donte Tousant,  Hubert Grimes and a host of nieces, nephews, loving family and friends.
