Mrs. Helen Barbara Currie Turner was born in Jackson, Tennessee on March 3, 1925 to the late L. D. Currie and the late Bobbie Atkins Currie. She was the youngest of five girls.
Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by husband, Willie Joe Turner, four sisters: Geneva Currie, Aliene Currie Tucker, Edith Currie Hughes, and Edna Lee Currie Collins; two daughters: Marjorie Sumner of Detroit, Michigan and Dora Turner Boyd of Nashville, Tennessee and three sons: Joe Turner of Gulf Port, Mississippi, Gerald Turner of Chicago, Illinois, Willie Lynn Turner of Elkhart, Indiana; a granddaughter, Tina Boyd of Nashville, Tennessee and a grandson, Christopher Turner of Memphis, Tennessee.
Mrs. Turner was educated in the Jackson, Tennessee public school system, attending Merry High School. She was a member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully attended Sunday School & Church until she moved to Detroit, Michigan. There she joined Liberty Temple Missionary Baptist Church. After thirty-eight years, she retired from Ford Motors and returned to Jackson, Tennessee and Macedonia Baptist Church.
Mrs. Turner was married to Willie Joe Turner and to this union, six children were born.
Mrs. Turner transitioned on Thursday, July 15, 2021.
Mrs. Turner leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Melvin (Joyce) Ray Turner, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
